Schools and offices across Philadelphia will close Friday as the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory parade makes its way through town, kicking off at 11 a.m. near the stadium complex.

“We look forward to celebrating the Eagles’ victory as a community, and we hope that our students, staff, and families will do so safely and responsibly,” said Superintendent Tony B. Watlington to Fox29.

People will line up along Broad Street as the champions head toward City Hall, then turn west along Benjamin Franklin Parkway. At 2 p.m., players will take over the Art Museum steps for a 75-minute celebration, with big screens showing their dominant 40-22 victory over Kansas City.

“Our Philadelphia Eagles, they were also gritty. They lifted up our spirits at a time when we really needed lifting,” said Mayor Cherelle Parker to ESPN.

While Gloucester City joins Philly in closing schools, Lower Merion and Central Bucks had already planned to be closed. The Clayton Education Center will also be shut down.

Archdiocesan high schools along with parish and regional Catholic elementary schools in the City of Philadelphia will be closed on Friday, Feb. 14.

In order to permit members of all their school communities to participate in this celebration, Archdiocesan high schools and parish and regional Catholic elementary schools in the suburban counties will also be closed on Friday, Feb. 14.

Speaking to ESPN about fan support reaching far and wide, Eagles president Don Smolenski said, “We’ve gone from Brazil to Bourbon Street to Broad Street to the Ben Franklin Parkway.”

Philadelphia area school closures will ensure that everyone can join in the festivities and celebrate the Eagles’ remarkable victory.
