The house always wins, unless the house is in Pennsylvania and the Eagles just won the Super Bowl. PA residents set a record, with $101.5 million worth of bets placed on Super Bowl 59. As you would imagine, many of those bets were placed on the Eagles, and because the Eagles won, many of them hit. By the end of the night, the PA Sports Books had lost a net $6.5 million per ESPN.
Pennsylvania sportsbooks lost a net $6.5 million on the Super Bowl, according to figures released by the state gaming control board.

The commonwealth's sportsbooks took $101.5 million in bets on the Super Bowl, a lot of them on the Eagles. #FlyEaglesFly
On ESPN Bet, 73% of bets, and 79% of the money, was placed on the Eagles from PA. They had less than 50% of the bets placed on them in the rest of the country. That is just one Sports Book too. There were reportedly also a lot of bets placed on Jalen Hurts, Devonta Smith, and AJ Brown to score a TD, all 3 of which hit. At least they made up some of it on the Saquon Barkley anytime TD bet not hitting.

Elsewhere though, Sports Books made out like bandits. New York’s Gaming Board reported a massive $62.6 million in winnings for the Sports Books. Seemingly Giants fans bet with their hearts, hoping the Eagles would lose. Meaning not only did they have to watch Saquon Barkley win it all, but their wallets took a hit as well. Likewise, NJ sportsbooks won a net of $25.2 million from the game.
In Nevada, sportsbooks won a record $22.1 million. The previous record was $19.7 million when the Seahawks blew out the Broncos. The record net gain came despite there being a 20% reduction in total bets in Nevada. The drop likely stemmed from the fact the game was set in Nevada last year, and one of the teams was only one state over.
The overall point is, betters from all over the country lost, except for in PA. Not only did we get to have a parade and hoist the Lombardi Trophy, but we also made money while doing so. Everyone else’s team lost, they personally lost money, and they have to deal with us being even more obnoxious than we usually are. It is a great time to live in the Philadelphia area and a terrible time to hail from anywhere else.
