Get in on the Big Game fun with these prop bets. They’re a great way for everyone to get involved at your watch party.
If you don’t know, prop bets, or proposition bets, are bets regarding something happening (or not happening) during a game that does not directly affect the game’s outcome. They’re fun bets that don’t require any sports expertise. And they have nothing to do with points, spreads, or any other confusing terms.
The most-watched television event of the year in the United States makes for several entertainment props. Even if you’re only watching for the halftime show or the commercials, you can bet. (Even though you should be watching for The Birds!)
These can be bet on officially, or, you can create a prop pool for you and the people at your watch party. Everyone puts in some money and answers questions, and whoever has the most right wins!
Here are Some fun prop bets for the Big Game:
Coin Toss
Simplest bet first. Heads or tails on the coin toss. It’s a 50/50 shot you get this right. There is no way for the coin to land on its side, so choose wisely! Two choices, too simple.
National Anthem Length
Bet on the over-under on the length of the National Anthem. An over-under bet is a wager in which a number for a statistic in a given game is set, and bettors wager that the actual number in the game will be either higher or lower than that number. The current over-under is either over 1 minute and 26 seconds, or under 1 minute and 26 seconds.
First Commercial
This one is very straightforward. What will the first commercial be? It’s an open-ended question, so really think hard about your answer! Any number of brands could have bought that coveted first spot.
The Gatorade Dump
I find this one to be the most fun. What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning team’s coach? It’s not always the color you’d expect. You’d think a green team would use green Gatorade, but what if their bench prefers the taste of yellow or blue?
Halftime Performance
When it comes to the halftime show, there are a couple of props. What will be the first song they perform? And also, will there be any special guests? The length of the show is pretty set in stone, so that’s not something to bet on.
A Safety? Interception? Fumble?
This is a whole bunch wrapped into one. Will there be a fumble? Who will fumble first? Will there be an interception? Who will throw the first interception? Will there be a safety? All of these are pretty technical football-related things, but they add drama to any game, so they’re fun to bet on.
Challenge Flags
You can bet on one of a few things here. Will there be a challenge flag thrown? Who will throw the first challenge flag? Will the first challenge be successful? All of which work.
