It took the Eagles 52 years to win their first Super Bowl. They did not have to wait much longer to get the 2nd. For the 2nd team in 8 years, Philadelphia will have a parade down Broad Street, and this one was never in doubt. The Eagles went down to New Orleans and imposed their will on a Dynasty. They struck down the mighty Chiefs and made them look like they weren’t even in the same weight class. It was an old-fashioned butt-whooping. And the Lombardi Trophy is coming back to Philly.
All week the talk in Philly was about how the Eagles were the much better team. We knew it. We saw how well this team played all season, we knew how special they truly were. Many stopped short of calling for a blowout because of the respect they have for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, but Philly should have been even more confident. Because this team just stomped all over the modern-day dynasty.
It was 24-0 at Half time. Cooper DeJean had more yards than the Chiefs whole offense going into the Locker Room. The Eagles had more sacks than the Chiefs had 1st downs. The usually poised Mahome looked more shaken than we have ever seen him. He threw 2 interceptions in just the 1st half, including this pick-six by the birthday boy Cooper DeJean.

But the Eagles weren’t done. They stuffed the Chiefs on the first drive, responded with a 7-minute drive ending with a FG, got a stop on 4th down, and then Jalen Hurts hit Devonta Smith deep to make it 34-0.
The Chiefs finally responded with a TD after that, but it was way too little and way too late. The Eagles did what they did best from there, ran out the clock to close the game out. And the defense kept doing what it has been doing all season long. Milton Williams even added a strip sack for good measure, because it is not a proper Eagles Super Bowl win until someone gets a strip sack.

It was one of the least competitive Super Bowls we have ever seen. It was like Seahawks vs Broncos all over again. The Eagles bulldozed the team that was looking for a 3-peat. By the end, it was 40-22. But even that score does not do justice to how much better the Eagles were than the Chiefs. They beat the Chiefs in every single facet of the game, and for the 2nd time Jalen Hurt outplayed the guy everyone agrees is one of the greatest QBs of all time.
This Eagles Team Is Special, Enjoy This
Cherish this Eagles fans. This team was special. It took a long time for people outside this city to realize it. Some people never realized it. But we knew. We got grief for being so confident in this team, people in the National media treated us like we were crazy. They spent all week writing the narrative that Mahomes would do Mahomes things again. But the Eagles showed everyone how special they were.
In a few days, there will be a parade. But for now, we celebrate. People take to the streets. You might be reading this on the streets right now. Or you might be reading it after a night of partying. But whoever you read this, take away this.
We just watched one of the greatest teams in NFL History. And unlike so many times in Philly sports history, they got the job done. We have had our share of our pain. teams that came so close, only to fail. This team went through it 2 years ago. But not this time. This time, the city can hoist a trophy, and revel in the fact that for the next year, we are a city of champions.
Now they have a chance to be the Chiefs. Some names will change. One of the many heroes of the game Milton Williams likely won’t be back. But names like Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Cooper DeJean, and Quinyon Mitchell are here for a while. And that is just scratching the surface.
This team is young, and most of the key pieces are locked up for 2+ years. This team was special, but they have a chance to be even more special in the coming years. But before that, the city can party. No fanbase has earned this more than Philly.
