Eagles Surprise New Year’s Day Attack Victim with Super Bowl Seats

A lifelong Eagles fan will return to New Orleans one month after a tragedy nearly took his life.

Members of the Philadelphia Eagles invited Ryan Quigley to tour Philadelphia’s NovaCare Complex on Sunday, Jan. 19, just before the Eagles took on the Los Angeles Ram during the divisional round playoffs. The team then surprised him with tickets for the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Eagles’ defensive end Brandon Graham made the offer to Quigley but told him he understood if Quigley wasn’t ready to return to New Orleans. Quigley was injured during the deadly New Year’s Day truck attack on Bourbon Street in the city. NBC10 News Philadelphia reported that Quigley responded by saying he pledged to attend the Super Bowl if the Eagles were playing in it.

“We went to every home game last year,” Quigley told Graham, referencing Quigley’s best friend, Martin “Tiger” Bech, who was one of 15 killed in New Orleans during the attack. “I would love nothing more than to still take him.”

Quigley, who grew up in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, attended and played football at Princeton University with Bech.

“He’s here,” Quigley added, explaining that his friend will be with him in spirit as he cheers on the Eagles during the game.
